Licensed financial advisers in New Zealand are required by law to meet certain duties when providing financial advice. These duties are set out in the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 and the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services. Adviser Duties
Acting in the Client's Best Interests
When providing financial advice, we must act in your best interests. If a conflict of interest arises, we must give priority to your interests.
Providing Advice With Care, Diligence, and Skill
We must exercise care, diligence, and skill when providing financial advice. This includes applying professional judgement and taking reasonable steps to ensure advice is appropriate to your circumstances.
Giving Suitable Advice
Advice must be suitable for you, based on:

- •Your objectives, needs, and financial situation
- •Relevant information you have provided
Managing Conflicts of Interest
We must identify and manage conflicts of interest. This includes how we are remunerated and any incentives that may apply. Where conflicts exist, they must be managed in a way that does not adversely affect the advice provided to you.
